How to Create a dedicated Sacred Space

A sacred space or altar can consist of anything, anywhere you like. It is a dedicated space to place objects that have meaning to you, such as spiritual or religious pictures, crystals or affirmations that reflect your connection to your Spirit, assisting you to stay centered and focused on your intent and purpose here in the world.

Images of Inspirational people

You could add photos of people who inspire you, whose qualities you admire and wish to embrace, for example, Oprah, Mother Theresa, Nelson Mandala, or Deepak Chopra (anyone at all you feel a connection with). On one of my altars (I have many) I have a photo of Gandhi whose essence of living truthfully I wish to embrace.

Pictures of Spiritual Teachers
Perhaps you are currently working with a spiritual teacher such as Sai Baba, Jesus Christ, Krishna, Mary Magdalene or St. Germain to name just a few and their image would serve as a reminder and encouragement of their teachings.

Crystals
Maybe you are working with the power and energy of crystals to magnify your intent and this is a good spot to place them.

Nature
If you are a nature lover you could use feathers, rocks, pebbles, shells, twigs, lichen, flowers, and/or photos of trees to help you stay connected to nature wherever you may be living.

Spiritual Quotes
The altar is a great place to put your favourite quote,spiritual image, inspirational verse or affirmation. Try Soul Dimensions, Mother Earth Whispers and A New Dawn for inspiring quotes.

If you are currently living with restricted space, not to worry even the smallest area will work; perhaps you have a shelf in a cupboard, a corner of your dressing table or even a small corner of your garden you could use. Gardens, balconies and patios are great areas to dedicate a space, in my garden I have fairies and dragonfly statues set up in different spots to call in and honour the presence of the nature spirits in my garden.

As you can see the list is endless the sky is the limit, so let your imagination go wild, have fun, and enjoy the process of creating your special sacred space
