Common Questions about Spirituality

Can I follow spirituality as well as my Religion?

Yes you can.
spiritual

All of the Worlds Great religions have their Spiritual Traditions. From the Qabbala and Judaism to the Gnostics and Christianity, the Yogic Schools of India and the Mahayana and Zhenyan Schools of China and Japan to name a few. Most of the Esoteric Traditions of various cultures contain the ancient wisdom,. These mystic traditions transcend day to day religious practice and are in a sense multicultural. So one can relate the Dreamtime of the Australian Aboriginal culture to the Great Spirit of the American Indians and so on.

Spirituality is a personal development of one's own connection to their highest self as an expression of Creator, Source energy or God.
That concept can be pursued through all the great religious traditions, such as Christianity or Buddhism .

Is a Spirit guide the same as an Ascended Master?

Both sources can give you guidance or information.

Spirit guide is the term given to all entities that provide guidance or protection. We generally have a couple of guides that stay with us through life's journey and others that come and go according to our needs at the time. These can include deceased relatives, spiritual beings such as angels or devas or some of the Ascended Masters.

A Master such as Jesus or Buddha, is "an entity that was once alive and excelled in bringing his or her spiritual truth to light. Masters often continue their life path after death and guide those who need their instruction.

An Avatar is a master with full command of his or her area of expertise who wields power as well. Avatars are like warrior spirits.

Saints are the elect of the Catholic Church. Catholics are encouraged to call upon these deceased entities to help with particular problems." [Cyndi Dale 'Advanced Chakra Healing.] or protection, such as asking St.Christopher for protection during a journey, as he is the patron Saint of travelers.

Do Demons or fallen angels exist?

Many cultures from the earliest to the present believe in the concept of evil spirits. Spirituality is no exception.

Some cultures and religions also believe in the ability of spirits to possess living people. Hence movies such as 'the Exorcist' etc. Some people believe in the concept of fallen angels who follow Satan or the Devil.

The question becomes more complex, when we consider that each one of us has a light and a dark side. So perhaps it is more relevant to say, that because many things in nature and the natural world are a macrocosm of the microcosm, there is a distinct possibility that some evil can exist on certain levels including in humans, the dark side of our own personalities.

How do I protect myself from these dark energies,in my spiritual practice?

By inviting in the Light of God/Creator/Source Energy, through the way you live, through prayer, through mindfulness, through connection to the Light.

Darkness is but the absence of The Light. As Jesus said "I am the Light of the World and I am the Way, the Truth and the Light" So you can see that Light matters.

Fear invites in the darkness. Love and Peace invite in the Light. As do Grace and Truth and Beauty and Honour.

Following the Buddhist Eight Fold Path as a way of living is a really good way to remain within the Light and is in tune with most of the mystic spiritual traditions

The Eight Fold Path:

Right View. Right Intention. Right Speech. Right Action. Right Livelihood. Right Effort. Right Mindfulness. Right Concentration. [See Buddhism]

and from the Dhammpada[ Buddhist Sacred Text]

All experience is preceded by mind,
Led by mind,
Made by mind.
Speak or act with a corrupted mind,
And suffering follows
As the wagon wheel follows the hoof of the ox.

All experience is preceded by mind,
Led by mind,
Made by mind.
Speak or act with a peaceful mind,
And happiness follows
Like a never-departing shadow.

It is also important to live with the understanding that you are a Divine Being, loved at all times by your Creator. And to live your life mindful of the great gift that life is, by treating yourself with Love, Honour, Respect, and Gratitude. And then all other beings and the Earth, with the same care and consideration you give yourself.

From that way of life grows Peace, Honesty, Truth, Wisdom, Courage, Faith, and Freedom From Fear.
